For over a decade,
Gay Glo Theatre has entertained audiences in San Francisco's Castro District, honoring our annual Halloween tradition as well as our personal individuality and freedom to choose what colors we wear.

It all started in 1989, when Gay Glo Theatre began as a dare. Drunk on tequila, Brian and Alex painted Doug's naked body with day-glo paint, handed him a penis prop, lit him with a black light, and dared him to dance naked in the window. And there it all began.

Brian went down to Castro Street to encourage passersby to enjoy the spectacle taking place above them in the window, and the Show was borne!

Since then, we've added complete sets with props and music, and our shows were scheduled to coincide with Castro Street parties and fairs. We've stopped traffic, have had crowds numbering thousands, and have become quite the popular local entertainment source for curious onlookers.

The Gay Glo Show has since moved to Noe Street (at Market) with fabulous shows scheduled every Halloween evening. The Gay Glo cast has managed to keep the spirit of Disco alive with our personal form of guerilla street theater, and we hope you enjoy it.

While you are here, click around and meet our Cast and Crew, and let us know what you think in our Guest Book. As always, we are available for private gigs and you can email us for more information.
